Cizhou Ware Wine Jar, Ming Dynasty, 1368 - 1644
Cizhou ware originated from the late Tang dynasty and the early Ming dynasty. They were produced in Northern China in the provinces of Hebei, Henan and Shanxi. Characterized by their black and white tones and patterned in a variety of techniques, Cizhou wares were handmade for an elite clientele of the wealthy merchants. Each skillfully hand-painted with Chinese inscriptions, these pottery pieces are now curated around the world, becoming some of the most desired Chinese collectors pieces.
